The Food Shop Story

The Food Shop @ Cedarfarm started trading almost 9 years ago, with the intention of producing excellent quality 'homecooked' food using local ingredients with no additives or preservatives.

The business has since grown each year with demand for our meals higher than ever. Three years ago Phil joined the business, due to The Food Shop's products being in such demand. We even met in the shop when Phil used to come and buy lunch while running his family Stained Glass business also at Cedar Farm.

The Food Shop's most popular product is our Lasagne. Based on the three batches of Lasagne we cook each week, we sell over 2 ½ tonnes of that one meal each year.

The 'Fill Your Dishes' service came about when customers asked us to cater for dinner parties. We now get many regular customers bringing in their own dishes for us to fill with tatsy meals they can simply reheat.

For larger parties the catering service is ideal, offering speciality honey glazed roasted ham, smoked fish platter, salads and pates.

Our food hampers provide the perfect gift and are finished with our own unique design flair.

All our beef and lamb is reared in Tarleton and our chicken is all free range and also sourced locally. Milk & cream come from the dairy here in Mawdesley and our range of local and speciality cheeses from Preston. Even the 40kg of onions, which we caramalise each week as a base for many of our meals, are produced in Tarleton.

As well as our range of homecooked meals, now over 20 varieties, we also produce our own chicken liver pate, freshly made rice, cous cous, spicy beany & pasta salads.

Together with our own products we stock many niche food items both local and international and we always try to concentrate on interesting and high quality foods.

Our secret is providing 'ready meals' with a difference and we wouldn't be here without our regular and loyal customers . We both love our shop and the positive feedback we receive and look forward to the future.
